Though the thermometer reading 34 degrees the morning of October 11th may have scared some individuals, dozens of runners and supporters nevertheless trekked to Grafton for the 3rd Annual Race to Save the Mill. Several familiar faces and many more new faces ran and walked the 5K or 8K route and enjoyed the homemade lunch provided by munificent and talented townspeople.
In total, nearly $1,000 was raised for the mill. Participants gathered after the race for a group photo and to inspect the changes made since the race began three years ago. To date, the building is braced and the timber is cut; this winter through summer 2015 we expect to begin the exciting work of replacing the rotted posts and beams. This means that next years’ participants will hopefully see huge progress on saving the mill.
Thank you to all who came to support this preservation cause. We take great pride knowing that each year, our little race is advertised on tee shirts all throughout New England. Until next year!
